Mercury Dime Minages
Mercury Dimes experienced a wide range of mintages during the more than four decade run. This ranged from the scarce 1916-D Mercury Dime at only 264,000 pieces to the incredibly common 1944 issue, which had more than 20 million pieces struck. Many collections of Mercury Dimes have been assembled that lack just the 1916-D and perhaps a few semi-key dates. Obtaining these few remaining coins can be a challenge to some collector budgets.
Certified coin collectors may have a different set of coins missing, depending on the focus of the collection and the desired grade. There are a few issues, which are particularly scarce with full bands on the reverse.
The table below lists the quantities minted for the Mercury Dime series by date and mint mark. This includes circulation strikes only, and does not include proof strikes.
